During the Chautauqua Season, recreation memberships and registrations will be taken by phone or on location. Phone numbers for each facility are listed with their descriptions below.

The Chautauqua Tennis Center offers eight Har-Tru tennis courts located on the Turner Community Center recreation campus. The fast-dry surface is clay-like, gives a true bounce, and is gentle on the players. Two courts are illuminated for night play.


Member benefits include free daily court fees, reduced rates for lessons and tournaments, complimentary use of ball machine (subject to availability) and discounts on selected merchandise.


The tennis season is mid-May to Mid-October (weather permitting).


Weekend and season weekend memberships are also available.


Fees for non-members: $28.00/court hour, mid-May to mid-October.

Honoring a golfing tradition since 1896 the Chautauqua Golf Club presents quality, professional service and the challenge of 36 championship holes. Both the Lake and the Hill Course have received four-star ratings from Golf Digest magazine.

Chautauqua Institution provides two fitness facilities. Chautauqua Health & Fitness inside the Turner Community Center is open year-round. During the season, a second facility is available at Heinz Beach. Both sites are dedicated to personal exercise, health and wellness, and are equipped with a variety of cardiovascular, strength-training, and free-weight equipment. Short and long-term fitness center memberships are available and include complimentary access to the Turner indoor pool. Separate pool memberships are also available. Members must be at least 14 years of age.


Personal Trainers, Pilates Reformer Trainers, Swim Instructors and a Nutrition Consultant are available by appointment. Additional fees apply.

Chautauqua Institution offers rental slip, ramp and buoy mooring in an assigned space. Vessels moored at an Institution or private dock are required to purchase and display a current registration sticker. The mooring rental period must match the dates on an accompanying gate pass.


Slip or ramp assignments for Institution-owned docks are subject to registration fee and a mooring fee and are billed separately on receipt.

  • Mooring Renewals: Must be purchased before March 13 to reserve the prior season assignment.
  • Mooring Reassignment: Submit request to ticketoffice@chq.org before March 13. Notification of reassignment begins late May.
  • New Mooring: Only done through the Central Dock Office. Starting June 1, contact the office at docks@chq.org or 716-357-6288

Sailing Center Rentals & Instruction

Chautauqua's Sailing Department, under the leadership of Kirk Kelly, presents a comprehensive curriculum of one-week sailing courses. The courses have been carefully designed to advance the sailing skills of all - youth, adult and novice to advanced sailors.

Sports Club

The Chautauqua Sports Club offers pontoon, kayak, canoe and paddleboat rentals along wide variety of recreation activities, including shuffleboard, lawn bowling, bridge, mah jongg, and ping pong. The Sports Club also provides leagues for men’s and women’s softball and sponsors the annual Old First Night Run/Walk. There are no membership fees. All services may be purchased individually at the Sports Club.
